Are prices negotiable?
For the safety and fairness of our guests, our prices are non-negotiable and all-inclusive. As a local, family-run business since 1994, we thrive on referrals and repeat customers. It is our goal to stimulate sustainable tourism and see you again.
What is the easiest way to get to The Pimenta?
Transportation can be arranged for guests arriving from any direction. This is at an additional cost. Public transportation is available, too, and we are happy to help you make arrangements that suit your needs.
Does The Pimenta accommodate dietary restrictions?
Absolutely. Please let us know in advance if you have any special needs. You can still enjoy Indian cuisine if you are vegan, gluten-free, or have nut allergies!
Is it safe to eat raw food?
Indian food is almost entirely cooked, but we serve raw food at The Pimenta to suit the palate of many guests. All raw foods have been thoroughly washed in purified water.
What should I wear?
At The Pimenta, we encourage you to wear what makes you feel at home. In the kitchen, we will give you aprons (which you can take home with you!) and ask that you wear shoes to protect your feet. Outside, we ask that our guests dress modestly to respect the local traditions. Women can comfortably wear linen pants, a short sleeve shirt, and sandals anytime of year.
Can I explore the local area on my own?
Absolutely. We encourage our visitors to visit local sites, which we can facilitate during your stay. A diverse area, there are churches, mosques, and temples nearby as well as local shops and restaurants. Bicycles are available.
What is the neighborhood like?
The Pimenta is situated on Haritha Farms, a lush 6.5-acre property less than two hours from Kochi. The region—Muvattupuzha—is at the merger of three rivers, which makes it a wonderful place to immerse yourself in a non-touristic ambiance amongst local people, crops, and shops within walking distance or a short rickshaw ride. Hospitals are also nearby.
Is it safe to travel as a woman alone?
Yes. Many of our guests are female solo travelers.
Should we behave with shoes?
In India, as with many Asian countries, it is customary to take your shoes off before entering a room. Here, we hope you will do what is comfortable for you. In the kitchen, we ask guests to keep shoes on for safety.
