Jack fruit trees are evergreen trees grown all over Kerala , In every house hold you will find atleast one tree . These tree may grow upto the height of 50 to 60 ft. It can attain a girth of 100 to 200 inches depends on where it stands .
There are two varieies of it .One is with firm flesh and the other is pulpy flesh when it is ripe . The firm flesh has more demand than the pulpy flesh ones when they are ripe . Pulpy flesh ones are consumed for cooking as a raw jackfruit mash , or jackfruit chips . When they are ripe they use for making dumplings in a flavour full leaf or edana a cousin of cinnamon tree .
The firm flesh one s can be used for all raw jack fruit preparations and can also be dried as fruit bar and dreid fruit . It can also be used for making Chakka varatty which is very tasty . There are more to say about this great tree which will be done on another blog soon.
